The 411 on Microdermabrasion

Our skin keeps our body temperature stable and prevents bacteria and other harmful pathogens from entering. Which is why it is vital that our skin always be at its best because if it becomes weak or damaged, it can lead to infection and poor overall health.

A regular cleansing routine is the best way to keep your skin healthy. Daily removal of dead skin cells, debris and excess sebum will help expose healthy skin and keep your pores clear. It is also a good idea to perform deep cleaning at least twice a year.

This can easily be done by having facials or microdermabrasion. If you are trying to treat a particular skin problem, like age spots or wrinkles, you can try using chemical peels and dermabrasion, however, keep in mind that treatments done with dermabrasion will require anesthesia, wound care, and a certain recovery period.

Different acids are used in chemical peels to help remove certain layers of the skin. As the skin continues to heal, a new and healthier layer of skin replaces the damaged one. Dermabrasion, however, uses an abrasive wand to remove the epidermis.

Microdermabrasion, on the other hand, does not require anesthesia or downtime and is much gentler than dermabrasion or chemical peels. Which is why this cosmetic treatment can also help treat problems age spots and wrinkles without causing irritation.

This type of treatment also uses an abrasive wand, however, the process is much gentler than dermabrasion. It isn’t meant to remove the epidermis, but it does slough off the dead skin cells and damaged skin. This gentle treatment allows you to return to your activities immediately after having undergone this procedure.

If you don’t want to undergo a professional microdermabrasion treatment you can actually use a home microdermabrasion system. This will allow you to control the pressure and duration of your treatment.

Most at home systems come with a small machine that produces the abrading action. Some systems also come with different attachments to produce different effects. They include a special cream containing micro-crystals.

All you have to do, when using this system, is to apply the cream to the attachment head and turn on the machine. Some machines come with timers that help you control the amount of time your skin is abraded. When you have finished abrading your skin, rinse off any of the remaining product.

Microdermabrasion creams are another good option. These creams not only contain the usual abrading micro-crystals that help abrade the skin, but they also contain soothing ingredients to help minimize any irritation or redness. You can apply the cream with a hand held system or by using your hand.

Once having concluded this treatment apply a soothing moisturizer and make sure to use sunscreen before going outside.

Home microdermabrasion creams such as BIOSKINEXFOL are often gentler than traditional microdermabrasion treatments. As a matter of fact, some people have said that this is the best microdermabrasion product out there because it contains a perfect mix of helix aspersa muller extract and abrading micro-crystals. Fortunately, microdermabrasion products like BIOSKINEXFOL can be used to treat all skin types.

Wrinkle Free in 2 Steps:

In the News:

Barbara Walters News Special: On 60 Minutes, Dr. Christoph Wesphal explains that Resveratrol is a naturally occurring component of red wine that can apparently extend human life.

WebMD: Resveratrol may prolong life and fight age-related diseases.

Resveratrol is one of a group of antioxidant compounds called polyphenols found in red wine that has been reported to have anti-inflammatory as well as anticancer properties.

Resveratrol may counter type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance, a new study shows.

CNN: At high doses, resveratrol appears to prolong life spans and improve health in mice. Human trials are under way.

This research, funded in part by the National Institute on Aging, was published in the journals Nature and Call in November, and bottles of resveratrol have been flying off the shelves since. Dr. Brent Bauer, director of the Department of Internal Medicine's Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic says "This may be the best thing since sliced bread for human beings, but we just don't know yet."

Fox News: For years, red wine has been linked to numerous health benefits. But the new study, published online in the journal Nature on Thursday, shows that mammals given ultrahigh doses of resveratrol can get the good effects of cutting calories without actually doing it.

"If we're right about this, it would mean you could have the benefit of restricting calories without having to feel hungry," Sinclair said. "It's the Holy Grail of aging research."
