Nail Care Tips for Nails that You Will be Proud to Show Off

In our lives, nail care is very important. Having clean and neat nails is one thing that you should remember. This is not as hard as you think because the basic tips on how to care for nails are very easy to learn. All that you have to keep in mind are certain steps such as trimming, cleaning and protecting nails. With all of these in mind, you will be able to maintain your nails.

Trimming of nails is very easy and will take only a few minutes of your time each week. Nail growth is at an average of 3mm a month, this includes both fingernails and toenails. Fingernails grow faster than toenails so you don’t always have to cut them at the same time. Damaged fingernails can take up to six months to regrow, while toenails can take up to 18 months. This is why damage to nails should be avoided as much as possible as it takes a long time for them to regenerate.

Trimming of nails should be done such that it will not interfere with your everyday tasks. Some people like to grow their nails long, but this puts nails at risk to be damaged easily, or accumulate dirt. Women may opt to grow their nails longer than males, but be sure that you protect your nails from harm and remember to remove any dirt that gets stuck under the nails immediately.

Diet contributes a lot to nail care. By eating properly and getting the right nutrition, you are allowing your nails to grow healthy. Foods which are rich in calcium, protein and zinc maintain stronger nails. Choose which foods you eat so that your nails stay strong and beautiful.

Another technique that you can use to help strengthen nails is by dipping your nails in warm olive oil for 30 minutes. This helps strengthen and moisturize your nails so that they would not be prone to cracking. Applying hand lotion after washing your hands is also recommended as soap used may cause nails to become too dry and brittle.

People have said that applying nail polish can cause nails to be brittle and soft. There is actually a good effect that this brings on nails. Nail polish protects the nails from physical damage. Since it forms a tough film on the nails, it prevents scratching easily. If you even notice it, a coat of clear polish can actually make your nails more presentable.

Applying nails polish must be done properly to ensure protection for nails. A base coat must always be applied to make the polish last longer. Two coats of nails polish is recommended plus a top coat. Always keep in mind that you need to dry the polish in between coats. Make sure that when you remove nail polish, you use a product which can moisturize the nails.

With all of these simple tips in nails care, you surely won’t have any problems when it comes to having nice and presentable nails. You can even have nails similar to those done in nail salons right at your own home.

Wrinkle Free in 2 Steps:

In the News:

Barbara Walters News Special: On 60 Minutes, Dr. Christoph Wesphal explains that Resveratrol is a naturally occurring component of red wine that can apparently extend human life.

WebMD: Resveratrol may prolong life and fight age-related diseases.

Resveratrol is one of a group of antioxidant compounds called polyphenols found in red wine that has been reported to have anti-inflammatory as well as anticancer properties.

Resveratrol may counter type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance, a new study shows.

CNN: At high doses, resveratrol appears to prolong life spans and improve health in mice. Human trials are under way.

This research, funded in part by the National Institute on Aging, was published in the journals Nature and Call in November, and bottles of resveratrol have been flying off the shelves since. Dr. Brent Bauer, director of the Department of Internal Medicine's Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic says "This may be the best thing since sliced bread for human beings, but we just don't know yet."

Fox News: For years, red wine has been linked to numerous health benefits. But the new study, published online in the journal Nature on Thursday, shows that mammals given ultrahigh doses of resveratrol can get the good effects of cutting calories without actually doing it.

"If we're right about this, it would mean you could have the benefit of restricting calories without having to feel hungry," Sinclair said. "It's the Holy Grail of aging research."
