Find the Right Face Products for the Winter Season

Winter is a wonderful time of year. The holidays, the food and the presents are great! But, for some people the colder months of the year mean painfully dry skin.

Two of the factors that cause the majority of skin problems during the winter months are dry air and the cold winter weather. The cold wind and lower temperatures draw moisture away from your skin which leading to dry patches and cracked skin. Because your face is the most exposed part of your body it takes a real beating.

To help protect your face from the coldest months of the year, read on and see what you can do to mitigate this common skin problem.

Tip 1

Watch what you eat: Even though dry skin is the result of the loss of moisture and not lipids, it is still a good idea to eat foods that contain essential fatty acids. Foods such as nuts, figs, and dried fruits are packed with nutrients and fatty acids. They also contain fiber that helps eliminate toxins from your body.

Drink plenty of liquids. Both sugar and salt in excess can cause dryness. In other words, drinking pure water is the best way to keep your body and skin well hydrated.

Avoid fried foods. It can also lead to dryness not to mention other problems like high cholesterol.

Tip 2

Be careful with your cleansing routine: During the winter, face care is of the utmost importance. While it’s essential to maintain a good facial hygiene routine, too much cleansing can lead to dryness. After cleansing maintain skin damp before applying a rich moisturizing cream. In this fashion you will allow moisture to be trapped keeping your skin looking younger longer.

All skin products that you use on your skin should be alcohol-free. It is best to avoid skin care products that contain ethyl alcohol, ethanol alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol. Always read the labels carefully and avoid purchasing any face care products where these types of alcohol appear as one of their first five ingredients.

You might want to choose a natural cream cleanser as one of your basic face products. Cream cleansers are especially fit for dry skin treatment. These types of cleansers will help moisturize your skin as they clean.

The Best Face Products for the Winter

The most important face product to have during the winter is a good moisturizer. Not only people who have dry skin will suffer from dry skin symptoms during the winter. This means that it doesn’t matter if you already have dry skin or have never suffered from it, purchasing a good natural skin moisturizer suitable for all skin types is a great buy for the long winter months.

And don’t be miserly! Your skin and your health deserve the best. So invest in a good product that will actually treat your skin problems effectively.

Wrinkle Free in 2 Steps:

In the News:

Barbara Walters News Special: On 60 Minutes, Dr. Christoph Wesphal explains that Resveratrol is a naturally occurring component of red wine that can apparently extend human life.

WebMD: Resveratrol may prolong life and fight age-related diseases.

Resveratrol is one of a group of antioxidant compounds called polyphenols found in red wine that has been reported to have anti-inflammatory as well as anticancer properties.

Resveratrol may counter type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance, a new study shows.

CNN: At high doses, resveratrol appears to prolong life spans and improve health in mice. Human trials are under way.

This research, funded in part by the National Institute on Aging, was published in the journals Nature and Call in November, and bottles of resveratrol have been flying off the shelves since. Dr. Brent Bauer, director of the Department of Internal Medicine's Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic says "This may be the best thing since sliced bread for human beings, but we just don't know yet."

Fox News: For years, red wine has been linked to numerous health benefits. But the new study, published online in the journal Nature on Thursday, shows that mammals given ultrahigh doses of resveratrol can get the good effects of cutting calories without actually doing it.

"If we're right about this, it would mean you could have the benefit of restricting calories without having to feel hungry," Sinclair said. "It's the Holy Grail of aging research."
